My very first business

Today, I am going to share a little bit more about one of the businesses that I manage, which is the one in the financial industry.

The Financial Services industry is very close to my heart, because this is the place where I became an entrepreneur for the first time.

Immediately after my graduation from NTU in 2002, I started my very first business in this industry by joining a leading financial services company as a Financial Consultant.
It was not an easy task for me since I have no sales background at all. Plus I can't speak mandarin, which is definitely a disadvantage for me since many Singaporeans are more comfortable talking in mandarin :(

But I knew one thing.. I knew that I shouldn't focus on my limitation, because the more I think about it, the more I couldn't do.
Since I realized that I have limitation, I must even work doubly hard compared to other financial consultants. During those time, I worked non stop 7 days a week, 14 hrs per day.
And my hard work paid off.

Within 1 year, I managed to earn in excess of $200,000! :)
I was thrilled because it was the first time in my life I saw a 6 digit figure in my bank account.
I straight away paid-off my $40,000 loan. And because at that time I didn't have a cheque book, so what I did was to pay the whole amount of $40,000 in cash. The feeling was absolutely GREAT !

In 2006, I've earned my first million, at just the age of 26. That was also another proud moment in my life. I felt it even more when I shared this good news with my parents.

At this moment, I'm leading around 60 Financial Consultants in MRO (Merry Riana Organization). And we're still growing!

I'm sharing all these to you, NOT to impress you, but to impress upon you, that if I can do it, so can you!

Love,
Merry Riana
